North Carolina, Covered.

Magnolia Megan is a local guide to the full state. Cities, mountains, coastline and all the towns worth knowing about.

The Story Behind Magnolia Megan

Magnolia Megan originally came to me as a personal branding project during college in the fall of 2018.

As I was getting ready for graduation that coming spring, I never imagined what would come of this "brand" I created. The concept, originally used as a logo for my resume and cover letters and the design of my portfolio website, became a name and image that I represented on social media.

From a young age I always had a creative mindset.

From the age of 4 when I told my family that God sent me here to be an artist, I didn't know what that meant at the time. I always loved creating and sharing ideas. From photography learning on film to oil painting and ceramics, to then studying graphic design in college, I found myself diving into the digital creative space after college. I also met my now husband during my freshman year of college. After I graduated, he proposed and not long after that we moved to Houston, Texas.

Magnolia Megan blog version one failed… but the story was just getting started.

I originally started my blog website back in 2020 while working in Houston. I had no idea what I was doing at the time with my blog and I ended up shutting it down. I decided to focus on TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest instead and that's when things began to develop. I found what I loved doing, creating and sharing experiences and places on social media. In 2021, Matthew and I got married in Cypress, Texas. Not long after that we decided to make a random move to Raleigh, North Carolina.

I have loved the Carolinas since I was a kid when our family used to vacation to Holden Beach in the summers.

Once we moved to Raleigh in December of 2021, my social media began to take off and I was able to make it into a full time career. In November of 2022, Matthew was able to quit his commercial roofing job and join me full time, truly a surreal moment for us.

I love the creative process that goes into making content while also getting to help businesses and inspire others.

Growing up in a small town, finding fun things to do or trying new things has always been a part of who I am. Now, living in NC with my husband and our two pets, we hope to inspire others with the content we create whether it be a new place to visit, lifestyle ideas, or bringing the experience to your home.

Growing the Magnolia Megan team

We lived for 4 years in the Triangle area, 1 year in Charlotte and now in Wilmington, NC so we have experience in many areas of North Carolina. We have also built a team across the state and internally to help serve our audience as best as possible. We realized that this opportunity has grown bigger than we can handle on our own, so now we get to teach others how we create content and share our passion of creating NC content with others. And, we get to serve more businesses now that we have content assistants around the state. We ourselves are no longer the constraint to helping more businesses with our limited availability, which is something we are really excited and passionate about.
